This is going to be the most modern university campus in Hungary
MINUSPLUS has won the tender for the design rights of the new MOME (Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design) Campus, szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu wrote. The company has been working on the design for years. They created the university of the future.
The aim of the tender was to transform the university campuses in Hungary, and to provide architectural solutions to do that. MINUSPLUS published its findings at two conferences in 2015, and it influenced the Integrated Institutional Development Program (IIP), which prepared the new strategy for the MOME Campus.
Balázs Turai, architect and project manager of MINUSPLUS, said that the design contest which was announced last year gave an excellent opportunity for the company to put their theory into practice, and test if it could work in real life.
The aim of the new MOME campus’ design was create a building which is rather based on participation than prestige. The campus is going to be transparent and accessible, a community and cooperation based work environment. The rooms are not closed and complete, but welcome everyone and serve the user. The campus interweaves the whole university, there’s a passage between the inside and the outside, professor and student, community and the individual. The spaces can be recontextualized to adapt to peoples’ needs. It can be a creative space, an exhibition room, a corridor, a seminar room, a stairwell, or even a garden.
