This is how Hungary celebrated one of its greatest holidays – Photo gallery
Hussars and soldiers, adults and children all went out to the streets yesterday to commemorate the revolution and war of independence of 1848-49. The day is marked with red letters in Hungarian calendars due to its historic importance. Let’s see how the country welcomed the celebrations this year!
The programmes usually follow a traditional order (hoisting of the flag, theatrical scenes, official speeches etc.), with a bit of novelty each year.
Moreover, celebrations were held all over the country and even outside of Hungary in ethnic communities.
