Tóth selected as Socialist Party’s parliamentary group leader
Budapest, July 6 (MTI) – The Socialist Party has chosen Bertalan Toth to serve as its next parliamentary group leader, Gyula Molnár, the party’s new leader, announced on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference with Molnár, Tóth, the group’s former deputy leader, promised to provide “hard-as-nails opposition” to the ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrat alliance.
Molnar, who was elected as the Socialists’ new leader at the end of June, said Tóth’s appointment marked the end of the party’s internal overhaul. From here on the party intends to focus on communicating its vision for Hungary’s future, he added.
Sándor Burány, László Szakács, Csaba Tóth and László Varga were elected as deputy group leaders and Árpád Velez was appointed as the group’s managing director.
