Tourist buses are prohibited to enter the Buda Castle area from 15 May

Tourist buses will be prohibited to enter the Buda Castle area due to the construction of the sewerage system and the renovation of the Carmelite monastery, turizmus.com writes. Only a couple of travel agencies and companies were informed at a conference, and MUISZ (The Association of Hungarian Travel Agents and Tour Operators), was not invited.

Tourist buses will not be allowed to enter the Buda Castle, and neither the sites nor the Hilton Budapest hotel can be part of a sightseeing bus tour from 15 May. Groups, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) guests, and the elderly will have no right to enter the Castle area by tourist buses either.

Instead of the 320 tourist buses that were permitted to enter the area, BKK (Centre for Budapest Transport) will provide buses which will run in every 5-10 minutes, and should serve the needs of approximately 15,000 tourists.

There was no negotiation regarding the prohibition, and the few tourist agencies which were invited to the conference were briefly informed of the changes. The companies can only calculate with the BKK buses from now on, and those which have already organized a trip which includes the Buda Castle should completely change their routes, but should also satisfy the tourists’ demands.
