Tragic accident: Pedestrian killed by turning bus in Budapest

A fatal accident occurred in Budapest’s 14th district, Zugló, on Sunday evening, when a scheduled city bus struck and killed a pedestrian at a busy intersection.
According to the Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK), the accident happened at the crossroads of Vezér Street and Fogarasi Street, where the bus hit a man crossing the pedestrian lane while turning. The victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Emergency services, including paramedics and professional firefighters from the Budapest Disaster Management Directorate, were immediately dispatched to the site. Despite their quick response, the man’s life could not be saved.
The BRFK has launched a criminal investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. Police officers were still conducting on-site forensic work late into the evening.
The intersection where the tragedy occurred is one of Zugló’s busiest, with heavy traffic for both vehicles and pedestrians. Authorities have reminded road users to exercise extra caution during the darker autumn months, especially on poorly lit streets.
