Uber: Here is how the popular ride-sharing service returns to Budapest
More details have emerged about Uber’s return to Budapest. It is understood that only Uber rides will be available through the service’s app, not those of Főtaxi.
As we reported earlier, Uber is to return to the Budapest market through a partnership with Főtaxi, despite previous regulatory hurdles that resulted in its exit in 2016.
The Uber app will only be available to access Uber’s passenger services, and you will only be able to order an Uber Taxi through the app, Pénzcentrum reports. The services of Főtaxi will continue to be available only through the usual channels. The company’s app and service will not be affected by the planned entry of the American ride-sharing service, the Hungarian representative of Uber told Pénzcentrum.
Uber returns to Budapest
More than years after its withdrawal from Hungary, the world-renowned car-sharing service is back on the streets of Budapest. It is returning in partnership with Főtaxi, a cooperation of special significance as it is the first time in Europe that Uber has partnered with a local taxi operator. F Mobilitás Kft, a subsidiary of Főtaxi, has already officially submitted the necessary dispatching licence application, Pénzcentrum adds.
