Amazing! – Hungarian man conquers the ice caps of Greenland
Hungarian Gábor Rakonczay is known for rowing and sailing across oceans, and now he is facing another physically demanding challenge: walking across the ice caps of Greenland, NlCafe.hu reports.
Hungarian Gábor Rakonczay was the first person to paddle solo across the Atlantic Ocean in a canoe. His record was confirmed by the London-based Ocean Rowing Society International, which adjudicates such feats for the Guinness Book of World Records. Back in 2008, he and his wife successfully rowed across the Atlantic together.

Gábor Rakonczay is currently doing his newest expedition to walk 650 km in 26 days wearing skies on the ice caps of Greenland.
He is starting his expedition on the 130th anniversary of the very first expedition across Greenland.
Norwegian Fridtjof Nansen was the first person to go across Greenland in skies in 1988. To be more exact, he led the team that made the first crossing of the Greenland interior, traversing the island on cross-country skis. He was an explorer, scientist, diplomat, humanitarian, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. In his youth, he was a champion skier and ice skater.

He is spending 26 days in extreme weather conditions: ice, snow and wind. He has to rely on no one else but himself. As already mentioned, Gábor is wearing skies, and he is also dragging a sledge behind him, carrying all of his equipment.
He is dragging a sledge that is approximately 40 kg.
You can check out Gábor’s Facebook where he shares his amazing adventures in Hungarian and posts amazing photos.
