An Irish sexual predator found in Budapest
The Irish man has been hiding in Budapest for 3 years. He is wanted for child pornography in his country.
The Irish authorities have been investigating Daniel C., and his residence was searched. Recordings containing child pornography were found by the police on the data storage he owned, so he had to undergo an investigation, reports police.hu.
Later, the man did not make an appearance at his hearing. In February 2016, he left Ireland and hid from the authorities.
A warrant of arrest was issued for him on the grounds of child pornography possession from the South-West District Court from Kerry county and the Skibbereen District Court.
The Irish National Garda contacted the Hungarian National Bureau of Investigation, Intervention Police Department (KR NNI) with the help of the European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams. Hungarian bounty hunters began data collection immediately and identified the address of the wanted man thanks to the great international cooperation.
They found out about his living conditions, that he rents an apartment in District 6 and covers his living expanses by giving private lessons as an English teacher.
The investigators of KR NNI in cooperation with the police of District 6, following a harmonious operation, identified, captured, and arrested the wanted man on 11 December. The court will decide on the extradition of Daniel C. to Ireland later.
