Hungarian FM: Macau shows interest in premium Hungarian goods, services
Hungarian premium quality products and services are in a good position to enter the market in Macau, the Hungarian foreign minister said on Tuesday, after meeting Ho lat Seng, the chief executive of Macau.
Péter Szijjártó is the first Hungarian foreign minister to pay a formal visit to the special administrative region of China.
Speaking to MTI by phone, Szijjártó noted that Macau is a leading player in terms of GDP per capita generated from high revenues in the tourism and casino sectors.
The minister said that
when it comes to diplomacy, Macau’s leadership — like Hong Kong’s — appreciates Hungary’s policy of not interfering in its internal affairs or its relations with China.
Macau depends entirely on agricultural imports, Szijjártó said, adding that Hungary has vast opportunities to tap demand for beef, pork and poultry exports in the region.
Further, as the world’s most densely populated region,
Macau is interested in high-quality services such as water management and sewage treatment technologies that Hungary has great experience in.
Noting cultural cooperation, Szijjártó said Hungarian artists and ensembles have been invited to perform in international cultural festivals and events in Macau, and in the area of education, Hungary and Macau have concluded a bilateral agreement on granting scholarships to each other’s universities.
