Brand new north-south metro line in Budapest may become reality soon β PHOTOS
DΓ‘vid VitΓ©zy started the project when leading the Budapest Transport Centre (Budapest KΓΆzlekedΓ©si KΓΆzpont – BKK). The development connecting metro line M2 and the GΓΆdΓΆllΕ HΓV will be taken over by the Budapest Development Centre, which is currently headed by VitΓ©zy.
“This morning, we signed the contract: we took over from BKK the preparations for the development of metro line 2 and the HΓV in GΓΆdΓΆllΕ,” VitΓ©zy announced on his Facebook page. The contract was signed on behalf of BKK by Katalin Walter, the CEO.Β
The aim is to connect metro line M2 to the H8 and H9 HΓV.
An agreement must be reached with the municipality of Budapest and the 10th, 14th, and 16th district governments. The plans should be completed by 2023. Renovation works may begin at the earliest thereafter. The project to connect the metro to the suburban area was launched under his leadership between 2012 and 2015. The government allocates HUF 4.6 billion of EU money for further planning and the preparation of the investment, writes hvg.hu.
The estimated value of the total investment was HUF 300 billion in 2015. However, in March 2021, Gergely GulyΓ‘s, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, mentioned only HUF 200 billion. GulyΓ‘s added that there was a realistic chance that the project would be implemented in the EU financial cycle between 2021 and 2027. With the establishment of the project, there will be non-transfer, fast, fixed-track access between the centre of Budapest, the outer districts, and CsΓΆmΓΆr, GΓΆdΓΆllΕ, Kistarcsa, Kerepes, and MogyorΓ³d, writes budapestkornyeke.hu.
Budapestβs BosnyΓ‘k square will be renewed by Zaha Hadid
At Γrs VezΓ©r Square, the current metro line would be connected to the HΓV.
The biggest part of the investment would be to connect the two lines, make the stops accessible, and procure vehicles. As part of the project, the stops would be equipped with P+R parking and bicycle storage. Renovated stops would not necessarily replace the old ones but would be built where most people live or where they can be reached by most people. The current line was built back in 1888 when the area was still almost uninhabited. Because of this, the location of the stops and the needs of the people may not overlap.

Exciting – citizens “needs” of the 21st century through thought out Public Train Services.
When operational – assets for will far outweigh negatives and will “bring on” open up and develope this delightful area of “outer” Budapest.
Confident that the citizens of Csomor with Government and Council Financial Support – will retain that village atmosphere – which if thought out and planned correctly – add greater interest to those who not only live in the area but tourist day visitors from all places.
Trust it ALL Happens – and citizens not forgotten and invited to contribute to this project.
1st of all finish fix the “ongoing” repairs of the M3 line (4 years already?!)…. Once a pleasure, today a nightmare.
