VIDEO: American man hits parliamentary guard in Hungary, sentenced to prison
A Budapest court has handed an American man who punched a parliamentary guard in the face a prison sentence of one year, suspended for two years.
The court also ordered the 21-year-old to be expelled from Hungary for two years, the central investigative prosecutor’s office said in a statement on Wednesday.
The man drunkenly approached one of the gates of Parliament on 4 April at around 2 AM and tried to enter the closed-off area by climbing over the chain link, while the guard, after issuing a verbal warning in English, fended off his repeated attempts to enter by holding him by the shoulder.
The accused then ran away before entering a closed-off area and punching the guard in the face two or three times.

SUSPENDED?!? WHAT!?! Anyone who violates an innocent human being needs to be thrown into the slammer and made to feel extremely uncomfortable for a meaningful length of time. I don’t care how hammered they are or what they’re hopped up on. This sends a very bad message, to everyone involved, except the scumbag who hit this gentleman. I hope the guard, and others like him, learn the lesson and next time use force before someone clearly intent on harming them gets so close as to be able to attack them. Ridiculous.
This is a slippery sloap. When there are no hard consequences to being a nuisance, being drunk & disorderly, acting violently agains ANYONE, badly behaved people only get worse. Maybe public shaming & some really hard physical work in the public interest could be a start. Save the taxpayer funds by not housing and feeding scumbags but making sure that people can vedio them & make eye contact with them to show their disdain. Then kick them out of the country. If they are locals, all gov’t subsidies need to be removed for a period of time designated by a court. 2nd or 3rd chances are just for young kids whose brains are not yet developed to understand consequences…but adults need to help that along. When I was around 9 I started pinching my friends when frustrated. A mother, my Godmother, pinched me back REALLY hard…suddenly my brain understood & I developed empathy there and then.
