“Explanation for Everything” by Hungarian film director Gábor Reisz has won “Best Film” in the Horizons section at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, the film’s distributor, Cirko Film, said on Saturday.
The film co-written by Éva Schulze is Reisz’s third feature. Explanation for Everything will be on general release in Hungary from 5 October. Concerning the plot, we only know that the movie centres around Ábel, who is preparing for his exams but cannot concentrate since he fell in love with his best friend, Janka. But Janka is hopelessly in love with their History teacher, Jakab, who has a family. Based on the trailer, the film touches on some political and social problems, e.g. Hungary’s communist heritage.
