Video: Tesla plunges into canal in Hungary

Emergency services were called out after a Tesla car slid into the Hortobágy–Berettyó main canal in eastern Hungary on Saturday afternoon, prompting a technical rescue operation and a hospital transfer for the driver.

According to reports from local news outlet Haon, the vehicle drove into the main canal under circumstances that remain unclear. The Hajdú-Bihar County Disaster Management Directorate confirmed that professional firefighters from Püspökladány were immediately dispatched to the scene to begin a technical recovery.

Driver rescued in stable condition

Initial information indicates that only the driver was inside the car at the time of the incident. The man, believed to be in his 50s, was assisted by emergency crews and later transported to hospital.

The National Ambulance Service said he was taken to hospital in a stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

Recovery operation continues

Firefighters began working to retrieve the submerged vehicle from the water, with the recovery continuing into Sunday morning. Additional units from Karcag and Szeghalom also joined the operation to help lift the car out of the canal.

Local reports said the driver was present during the recovery and told journalists he could not remember how the Tesla ended up in the water.
