VIDEOS: Scandals at Sziget Festival – last-minute concert cancellation, anti-Orbán slogans
Yesterday was the closing day of one of Europe’s largest festivals, Sziget, dubbed as the island of freedom. And it appears, things again didn’t go down without scandals. One of the performers cancelled their concert last-minute, while the rapper Krúbi hyped up the crowd so much that they all chanted together “Mocskos Fidesz” (in English “Filthy Fidesz!”, which refers to PM Orbán ‘s leading party) during his gig.
However, the list of scandalous incidents of the 5-day festival doesn’t stop there. On Friday, visitors had a real nightmare to exit Óbuda Island, which hosts the Sziget Festival, after the Imagine Dragons concert due to the large throng of people blocking the gates. Some festivalgoers said it took them more than 90 minutes to break free from the crowd and leave the island, which they described as a nerve-wracking experience. We reported about the incident HERE.
What’s more, yesterday, one of the most-anticipated performers of the Sziget, the Swedish rapper Yung Lean (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok), cancelled his concert last-minute. Although it shouldn’t have come as a surprise: he pulled the very same thing a year ago. As a result, the organisers had to reschedule the entire line-up, still the main stage remained empty. In the evening, Billie Eilish stole the hearts of the festivalgoers. Here are some photos of her stunning show:
Oddly, neither Yung Lean nor his manager shared any information about the reason for the cancellation. However, the fans were both outraged and devastated by the news. Others were perplexed why Sziget even bothered to re-invite the Swedish performer after his rude antics last year, index.hu wrote.

Based on Reddit posts, Yung Lean also called off his concerts in Slovakia and Poland. In Poland, this was the third time he did so. His last gig was in Romania in July at the Electric Castle Festival, 444.hu wrote.
However, there is more tea to spill. Krúbi, a Hungarian rapper, showed up with an Orbán puppet, which he went on snogging throughout his gig. The crowd went wild, chanting “Mocskos Fidesz” (Filthy Fidesz) over and over, in chorus. Here are some videos of the bizarre scene:
We wrote HERE about the government office investigation launched against the Sziget Festival over their promo video that depicted a lesbian kiss.
Uh. Scandal? Or freedom of expression? Would not happen in Russia or Belarus … Could – but then you´d be dragged off to prison.
Lets just WATCH – the way – thought of in the PAST, the “Strong Man” of European Politics, thought of in “thin” circles, as a Statesmen – Leader of the Fidesz Party – presently occupying the position of the Prime Minister of “embattled” Hungary, financially and economically – lets just WATCH – his MOVES.
Rightfully – there should be a NEED to “counter punch” the Orban solutions to ensure the Sziget Festival is not CONDUCTED – like a “Ploy” he could use, plus of course PROPAGANDA – speaking to Hungary, like so:
“My fellow Hungarians, this is your Prime Minister who speaks – relating to the Sziget Festival, in relation to the themes and scenes – behaviour of attendees, witnessed by all of Hungary – over the past week.
Orban – we know – will ATTEMPT to RULE – if Sziget is approved to be held in 2024 – by POWER, from his office.
PEOPLE can and MUST – from “All Stations in Life” – support & EMBRACE & BELIEVE :
– Power of the PEOPLE.
– Power of the Global – LGBT Family.
– Power of Democracy, over a DICTATORIAL agender Government.
Pathetic.
@michaelsteiner – it is freedom of expression … Can disagree, I am happy we have the possibility in our country. And appreciative of your points of view. We may disagree, however I do very much value your comments. Just FYI
Filthy Fidesz. That’s catchy! I was more inclined to Buta Fidesz. Just to drive Fidesz crazy there should have been as much same sex kissing as possible in every single video shot.
If people are opposed to the Hungarian government, democratically elected by the majority by the people, they should stay in their depressive, oppressed socialist country, flooded by uneducated, criminal illegal aliens. Hungary does not need them. Wonder who is paying for it the disrupters? Hungary must be commended for being one of the few countries that supports free speech.
Quelle surprise, a highly attended and popular (nominal) ‘youth’ festival on the European circuit has some disruption, incidents and criticism of the PM by a Hungarian artist, then cue outrage; agree with Norbert. Younger Hungarians have more skin in game or the future than most older Hungarian voters…..
