Warning: Budapest flights cancelled today due to violent storms
On Thursday 2 November, Storm Ciaran will pass over the Netherlands with winds of up to 100 kilometres per hour. As a result, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines announced mass flight cancellations in the early hours of the morning. Three flights to and from Budapest have been cancelled today.
According to KLM, the huge winds are primarily endangering the safety of ground handling staff, which is why they have decided to cancel a number of arrivals and departures from the early afternoon until the end of the day, AIRportal.hu reports.
According to Budapest Airport’s flight information system,
KLM has cancelled scheduled flights KL 1979, 1797 and 1981 arriving to Budapest at 15:05, 16:15 and 23:05, as well as return flights KL 1976, 1980 and 1978 to Amsterdam at 12:50, 15:35 and 17:05.
Affected passengers have been informed that they will be rebooked on other flights or reimbursed.
KLM will operate four flights a day between Amsterdam and Budapest during the winter timetable, for a total of 28 flights a week, AIRportal.hu adds.
