Were you on this flight? Wizz Air just celebrated its 60 millionth passenger in Hungary!

Wizz Air has reached the milestone of 60 million passengers in Hungary and marked the occasion by welcoming its 60 millionth traveller, who boarded the airline’s first flight to Tallinn on Thursday, the company told Hungarian News Agency MTI.

First Tallinn flight marks milestone

The airline recalled that it launched its first Budapest route from Ferihegy (now Budapest Airport) to Athens at the end of June 2004. Since then, the Hungary-based carrier has continued to expand its network.

From next May, Wizz Air’s Budapest base will host 18 Airbus A321neo aircraft, connecting the Hungarian capital with nearly 80 different destinations. The statement quoted Máté Ritter, Head of Route Development at Budapest Airport, who highlighted that Wizz Air’s eight new routes launched in 2025, the five new services announced for next year, and the arrival of its 18th base aircraft are also thanks to the airport’s commercial policy, which supports airlines that expand their presence on the Budapest market.
