Wizz Air resumes 3 popular routes from Hungary’s second largest city!

Good news for travellers from eastern Hungary: Wizz Air is bringing back three of its popular routes from Debrecen International Airport for the 2026 summer schedule. After a brief hiatus, the budget airline will reconnect the city to major European and Middle Eastern destinations, offering both leisure and business travellers more options than ever.
Tel Aviv, Eindhoven, and Istanbul back on the map
From 31 March 2026, Wizz Air will resume flights to Tel Aviv, Israel’s economic and cultural hub, operating three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This route opens the door for both Debrecen residents visiting Israel and inbound tourism to the region.
The Dutch city of Eindhoven will once again be accessible from Debrecen starting 2 May 2026, with two weekly flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Finally, Istanbul, Türkiye’s most populous city, returns to the Debrecen network in June, with Wizz Air planning three weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, AIRportal.hu reported.

London flights to increase
In addition to these returning destinations, Debrecen Mayor László Papp announced that Wizz Air will increase its London services from three to four weekly flights starting 5 April 2026, Dehir.hu reported. According to the mayor, the airline prioritises routes that are viable and attractive to travellers while also boosting Debrecen’s visibility on the international tourism map.

Airport upgrades and parking perks
The airport itself is undergoing improvements. Plans for a new short runway are expected to be completed next year, alongside upgrades to the navigation system, both of which could pave the way for further route expansion from Debrecen.
Meanwhile, according to Dehir.hu, passengers flying to London with Wizz Air or Munich with Lufthansa can enjoy free parking at Debrecen International Airport during December and January. Parking vouchers can be collected at the airport check-in desks upon presenting a valid flight ticket and must be displayed clearly in the vehicle. Vehicles dropping off or collecting passengers can also enter the parking area free of charge for the duration of loading and unloading.
Future plans: Wizz in Debrecen
The 2026 schedule also sees Wizz Air restoring its Cyprus route after the winter break, with flights three times a week instead of the previous two, running from April to October. This expansion follows Wizz Air’s recent announcement to add an 18th aircraft to its Budapest base.
With these developments, Debrecen International Airport will definitely become a more convenient and attractive option for travellers, offering both increased destinations and improved services. Passengers are advised to check the airport’s official channels for the latest updates on flights, parking, and travel conditions.
