Woke and LGBTQ propagandists don’t respect our children, says Hungarian president in US

True freedom means being able to freely choose, speak, think and live without having to “follow the mainstream”, President Katalin Novák said on the 7th day of her visit to the United States.

Novák said in a speech on Monday local time at Benedictine College in Kansas that the fulcrum of her own freely chosen conservative values involved protecting of human life and supporting families.

She said an individual is defined as a part of creation and is aware of his own limitations. Also, achieving individuality is not the ultimate aim; rather the individual lives as part of a community and should respect other members of the community, she added.

Regarding the protection of human life, Novák emphasised the role of education “which teaches the beauty of human life and the point at which human life begins”. Thanks to government measures in Hungary, pregnant women considering an abortion must attend counselling twice to consider the decision, the president noted. Family benefits are available to pregnant women, and the government has made the adoption process easier, she added.

Meanwhile, fully 6.2 percent of GDP is spent on family support, Novák said.

Hungary’s constitution states that a marriage is defined as between a man and a woman, and that the mother is a woman and the father is a man, she noted.

Referring to the Hungarian Child Protection Act, Novák said

the law states that parents have the primary responsibility for raising their children, and acts as a bulwark against the dangers of “woke and LGBTQ” propagandists. “They don’t respect us,” she said. “They don’t respect our children.”

Asked about a European Commission proposal to suspend EU funding, Novák referred to a recent speech given by Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commission’s president, at Princeton University regarding the expected outcome at the time of the Italian elections and their consequences: von der Leyen said that Brussels had the means to deal with Italy just as it had done in Hungary and Poland’s case. Novák said the EC president’s response suggested that voters were “punished for electing leaders” that were not to others’ taste.

“This looks to me totally undemocratic,” Novák said.

The Hungarian president was handed an award by Stephen Minnis, the college’s head, named after Pope John Paul II.

Novák’s US visit ends on Tuesday in Cleveland at an event for local Hungarians.

  1. It’s not voters being “punished for electing leaders” that are somehow unpalatable.

As Mrs. Novák points out, „an individual lives as part of a community and should respect other members of the community”.

We joined the EU – and the EU has at it’s core the The Treaty on European Union (2007) – the „TEU”. Which we signed up to.
the primary Treaties of the European Union, The TEU forms the basis of EU law, by setting out general principles of the EU’s purpose, the governance of its central institutions.

The TEU sets out in detail a definition of what constitutes the rule of law.
„The rule of law requires that all public powers act within the constraints set out by law, in accordance with the values of democracy and the respect for fundamental rights as stipulated in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union (the ‘Charter’) and other applicable instruments, and under the control of independent and impartial courts.” (non-discrimination and equality before the law, etc.)

It then goes on „It requires, in particular, that the principles of legality implying a transparent, accountable democratic and pluralistic law-making process; legal certainty; prohibition of arbitrariness of the executive powers; effective judicial protection, including access to justice, by independent and impartial courts; and separation of powers, be respected”.

There’s also the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU). Some highlights included are the combating discrimination based on sex, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation, EU citizenship, free movement, etc.

You get the point: all things Hungary should be adhering to. We do not get to pick and choose, as members of a community which we joined of our own free and sovereign will. Even if some souls decide to elect so-called Leaders who do not give a toss regarding the above.

If we REALLY want to opt for an alternative, the United Kingdom showed us the way by invoking Article 50 TEU. And isn’t that just going swimmingly?

Apologies for the long rant – I generally try to keep things short, but this is just beyond the pale. Our President represents us, abroad, and these types of speeches makes Hungarians look like a bunch of ignorant folks who get all of their information from Facebook.

  2. @Norbert:
Not to worry about your long rant, every single point is spot on.

Needles to say, what those type of speeches make us look like on the World stage. At times I am made to feel that I’m the Hungarian equivalent of an American redneck because of what our leaders say (and do) – and that’s putting it mildly.

  3. Kids – check out the ( libs of tic toc )
    This opposite of your redneck.
The same insanity that shut down much of the world and demanded you obey – insisting you get vax or else.
Do not question how it all started or you will be banned social media.
The first free country may soon be the last. There have been weekly FBI raids with 30 man swat teams bashing the door down anyone who protest the Biden gov. The latest being a young father with 7 kids for praying at a abortion clinic and it was dismissed by state court. 7am raid in front of his whole family with guns drawn and hauled away- pull your head out of your ass- never thought I would live to see anything like this. There many men in prison for almost 2ears with misdemeanors – no bail and no trial. This is the most powerful law enforcement agency in the world and they can destroy anyones life.
The same who raided trumps home. Anyone not onboard with the bide regime is a potential suspect. Your pal Soros is one of the biggest money behind destroying the US.

  4. @Tim – wasn’t the article about Hungary and the EU? How did we end up in the US? Different continent?

Regarding Soros – whatever network he may have would be nicely balanced out by the Koch brothers. Although David died in 2019, and they have no particular love for Trump or the MAGA movement, they were (and their successors are) undeniably effective at influencing politics.
