Woman ruthlessly beat up by her boyfriend in Kolozsvár

The Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania in Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca) condemns the actions of one of their lecturers, who has recently beaten up his girlfriend. The victim suffered serious injuries. According to police sources, the man had been prosecuted for beatings and other acts of violence and was placed under official supervision by the court.

The working community of the Cluj-Napoca Faculty of Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania published their attitude of mind on the incident on the institute’s website on Thursday:

“We were shocked to learn that one of the faculty members of our institution had severely abused one of his woman acquaintances. The academic community of the university fully condemns and considers the actions of F.B. to be in absolute opposition of human and educational values. The university dissociates itself from the incident and expresses their sympathy to the victim and her family”.

The institution of higher education also said that in accordance with the university’s policy, they are going to initiate a private investigation on the matter and that they urge the prosecution of the perpetrator.

According to Krónika Online, the aggressor is a teaching assistant in cinematography, photography, and media studies. According to their information, Ferenc B., following a disagreement, brutally abused his girlfriend on the streets of Cluj-Napoca. The incident happened last week at night. The university instructor did not only punch his victim but kept kicking the young woman even after she fell to the ground. The criminal act was even recorded by a nearby surveillance camera. According to the tape, the man abused, punched, and kicked his girlfriend for eight minutes.

Andreea Andrada Vișan, a spokesman of the Cluj County Police Headquarters, confirmed the information to Krónika Online that the criminal proceedings had been initiated. The 30-year-old victim filed a complaint to the police on Thursday, July 30.

She stated in the complaint that on the night of July 29, her former partner had brutally beaten her.

According to the spokesman, the attacker was a 41-year-old man who is a resident of Arad County and does not have a residence in Cluj-Napoca. Following the report, the police issued a temporary, five-day restraining order against Ferenc B., taking immediate effect. This means that the man had to refrain from contacting his ex-girlfriend directly or indirectly. In parallel to this, the police have prosecuted the alleged perpetrator for beating his girlfriend and other acts of violence.

The police spokesman said that the Cluj-Napoca court prosecutor’s office detained the man for 24 hours on Monday, August 3, and then placed the teaching assistant under official supervision for 60 days starting from August 4.
