Although Hungary is not the largest European country, it has very diverse geographical features. Thanks to this, you can go on a lot of different fascinating excursions in the country. Excursion to the highest point of Hungary

If you want to go on a trip in Hungary, the Mátra is one of the best choices. The highest point of the country, the 1,024-metre-high Kékestető, is located in the Mátra Mountains. Arriving at the highest point, you can admire a stunning panorama from the TV tower. You can approach the mountain from several directions and through hiking trails. An important part of the mountain is the Forest Reserve. Here, you can find hundreds of giant old trees.

Trip to Lake Tisza

You can even go to a waterfront for an excursion. Many people would immediately think of Lake Balaton, but Lake Tisza should not be forgotten either. The lake artificially created in the 1970s is the second-largest lake in Hungary. Animals and the flora and fauna can be observed from sitting in a canoe. You can also find many species of birds, beavers, and otters. If you do not want to get on the water, ride a bike. It is worth visiting the Lake Tisza Ecocentre where  an entertaining interactive exhibition of 2,600 square metres awaits visitors.

Arboretum of Alcsút

The Alcsút Arboretum is not far from Budapest. You can admire rare plants every day of the year. Due to the nature of the place, it is worth visiting in all seasons, as each season offers different, beautiful plants. One of the highlights of the arboretum is the snowdrops on more than two acres. If you do not want to climb a mountain or go to the waterfront, head to the Kiskunság National Park. It is the perfect choice with family, friends, alone or on a date. There are many educational trails and hiking trails to choose from. It holds excitement for both beginners and the advanced. There is no big difference in level, but you can also choose a hiking route of 4 to 130 km. Your journey will be accompanied by diverse wildlife. Many bird species nest in the Kiskunság National Park.
