1,000 students eating apples break Guinness record
Budapest, December 5 (MTI) – More than 1,000 Hungarians ate apples simultaneously setting a Guinness record at the Semmelweis University in Budapest today.
Students and staff of two universities embarked on the record-breaking event, which was part of a campaign to promote healthy living.
The apples were provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, whose staff promoted the Hungarian apple harvest at the event. State secretary Istvan Nagy noted that the annual per capita apple consumption in Hungary has dropped from 30 kilogrammes to 15 kilogrammes.
The earlier Guinness record involved 840 people eating apples at the same time.
