115 thousand people partied “freely” at the 2018 EFOTT Festival – PHOTOS
The 43rd EFOTT Festival passed by actively, in an outstanding social spirit, with pleasant weather conditions and the strongest line-up so far. The one hundred thousandth visitor entered the venue on Saturday, and by the end of Sunday, the former record was broken: the event welcomed 115,117 festival-goers.
“The number of visitors was continuously increasing, on the weekend we had many visitors over ‘university age’ and even families came. Last year there were 111 thousand of us, which meant a record back then, but we managed to break it this year” said Director Gábor Maszlavér, thanking his crew for their persistent work.
The star of Thursday was definitely Jessie J, who performed in Hungary for the first time. She put on a very professional show, the whole audience sang (shouted) her most iconic songs with her.
John Newman dominated the main stage on Friday, who afterwards himself tasted the “just freely” (this was the festival’s slogan) feeling and partied with his crew until dawn.
“I am a normal person, just like anyone else. I feel, cry and laugh the same” said the singer, which is attested by the fact that his only request was 18 black towels in the backstage.
The biggest crowd was probably attracted by Hungarian Halott Pénz and Majka & Curtis on Saturday, while Sunday was all about rock&roll with Tankcsapda and Volbeat.
During the day, visitors could choose from 200 types of programmes, including different games, sports activities, outdoor cinema, watching the World Cup, dodgem, bungee jumping, different simulators, escape room etc. There was even a pillow fight and a separate playground for children.
Moreover, university students could visit the stands of different companies and learn about career options.
The six-day festival ended without any serious injuries or accidents. “The event could win the ‘safest festival’ title, luckily, the ambulance team did not have a lot to do. However, I would advise more carefulness concerning sunburns” said Csaba Orosz, responsible for the safety of the festival.
It is still a question whether or not next year’s EFOTT will be held at Lake Velence. The information on the venue and the host university will be shared in the beginning of 2019.
