Airline schedules can change, based on international regulations relating to the pandemic. Please check the websites of the relevant airlines for information, when planning your trip. Due to the changing regulations on entry all over the world and a negative coronavirus test being required for border crossing, more administration than usual may be necessary before flying.

Please arrive at the airport at least 15-30 minutes earlier than planned; you thus facilitate seamless administration and can reach your flight conveniently and without stress.

January figures: passenger traffic stagnating, cargo booming

Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport handled 66 148 passengers during the first month of 2021, registering a 94.3% drop compared to the same month of the previous year, when the coronavirus pandemic had not yet appeared in Europe. The tightening of regulations and the closures implemented by some European countries in December and January further reduced passenger traffic in Europe.

In contrast, cargo traffic, which already broke records at the end of 2020, continues to soar at Budapest Airport.

The volume of goods handled reached 12 516 tons, which is an increase of 15.7% compared to January 2020. Thus, the BUD Cargo City, opened just over a year ago, remains on the right track to become the primary cargo gateway for Central and Eastern Europe, and continues to provide strong support for the national economy.

Preparations for the second phase of the air cargo handling complex will commence already this year, and the company is continuing to work hard to strengthen the regional significance of Budapest Airport: BUD cargo team is continuously working on creating a Silk Road between Hungary and China.
