4 million leaflets to be distributed about alleged tax increase plans in Hungary

Ruling Fidesz plans to distribute four million leaflets about the opposition Tisza party’s alleged tax increase plans by 1 October, Fidesz’s group leader said on Saturday.
Máté Kocsis said on Facebook that Tisza leader Péter Magyar had started “hysterical crisis communication … with denial and lies” since [deputy Tisza leader] “Zoltán Tarr exposed the Tisza Party’s tax increase plans”. He added that Magyar “verbally tramples everyone who dares bring up the issue”.
“But we will bring it up again and again, because every Hungarian taxpayer has the right to know what the Tisza Party is planning to do if they come to power,” Kocsis said.
Fidesz will send out 4 million leaflets across the country by the middle of next week, which will be delivered to every household and mailbox by 1 October with the help of 10,000 volunteers, he added.
Péter Magyar, leader of the Tisza Party, has made it clear several times that his party does not plan to raise taxes. On the contrary, they aim to reduce taxes for the majority of taxpayers. The only exception is wealthy Hungarians with assets exceeding HUF 5 billion. However, he has yet to reveal the specifics of the proposed extra tax on the rich.

Magyar pursues the politics of envy as well as outright lies.
A “wealth tax” never, ever works as intended. It’s always counterproductive. Rich people don’t just stay in a place as their pockets get picked. They leave, and they take their assets with them if they can, or dispose of them if not. If they dispose of their assets (e.g. real estate), those assets greatly decrease in price initially but it disrupts the market (e.g. rentals) in the longer term.
Plus, a “wealth tax” generates a puny revenue, which make no practical difference to a nation’s budget.
Meanwhile, if he would not increase other taxes, then one of two possibilities arises. EITHER he’s not going to have the money to “fix” the country the way he is promising, OR he’s going to make cuts in a lot of places in order to channel those savings to “fix” Hungary’s “problems.”
As I’ve been saying for a while: Vote Magyar and get ready to pay 6-8 times what you’re paying now for gas and electric. Of course, the loudmouth expats, some who don’t even live here, don’t care about it, but for ordinary Hungarians it’s a death sentence, especially in the freezing winter months.
DNH, please shut down the comment section again.
We are full of the stupidness of Mr Steier again and again.
Save the world from such people.
The question is what percentage of Hungarians are smart enough to recognize a propaganda campaign when they see it. Hungarians have been bombarded for years with Fidesz attack ads against a long list of people and organizations. As soon as you drive into Budapest from the airport you are met with a several kilometers long road with endless poltical attack ads like something out of an Orwell novel. Hungarians are tiring of it and many start to recognize it as propaganda. Only the truly gullible with limited mental faculties will believe these leaflets.
