In Vino Budapest: Budapest Wine Festival
Viva viniculture! The Hungarian capital celebrates wine and viniculture now for the 23rd time together with Italy as the guest of honour of the event. Explore more than 200 wineries and „the themed wine-walks”, enjoy the concerts and the wine tasting, eat traditional Hungarian and exquisite Italian food, or take part in the charity auction. HINT: DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CORKS AT HOME!
The vista on the top of the Castle Hill with the monumental Buda Castle gives the background to this year’s tribute to Hungarian Wine. You can meet real winemakers and enjoy the wide range of cultural events on offer while sipping the best wines of the country. The most well-known Hungarian wines are tokaji aszú and egri bikavér: it is a must to taste them if you happen to stay in Hungary next week (10-14 September).
The invitee of the event is the Bel Paese. Italy is one of the top vine producers (vintage) and the largest exporters of wine (quantity) in the world, says Aborfesztival.hu The most famous Italian wine regions will also introduce themselves with their specialities, for example Tuscany – Chianti, Piedmont – Barolo, Barbaresco, Dolcetto, Barbera, Puglia – Negroamaro, Primitivo, Sicily – Marsala.
Curiosity:
Believe it or not, the organisers decided to collect corks to be donated for kindergartens and handicraft workshops to promote environmental awareness among their visitors. Read more HERE.
