Opposition LMP calls for legislation on lobbying
Budapest (MTI) – Green opposition party LMP calls for legislation on lobbying to make influences on lawmakers and decision-makers transparent, co-leaders Bernadett Szél and Ákos Hadházy told a press briefing on Friday.
The relationship between businesses and politics lacks transparency, with lack of insight undermining taxpayers’ trust in the legislation process, Szél said. Hadházy cited the 2014 law on tobacco trade as an example.
LMP suggests to create a mandatory registry for lobbyists and oblige politicians, including MPs, members of government, municipalities and all public bodies and foundations to report cases when lobbyists target them, Szél said.
