Hungarian house speaker meets Saudi counterpart
Hungarian House Speaker László Kövér held talks with Abdullah ibn Muhammad Al ash-Sheikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s Consultative Assembly, in the Parliament on Tuesday.
The meeting was the fourth in a series since 2012 which signals the intensity of Hungarian-Saudi relations, Kövér told reporters after the event.
Hungary considers Saudi Arabia a partner which is a stabilising force in its own region, and a country that maintains its own domestic stability and prosperity by pursuing a consistent and circumspect reform programme, Kövér said.
He called it a common endeavour of both parliaments to promote bilateral cooperation in the economy and in combatting terrorism.
The sheikh said he briefed his Hungarian partner about the current situation in Saudi Arabia, developments in the region and his country’s achievements in implementing its 2030 economic transformation programme.
The possibilities for Hungary’s involvement in the reform programme were also discussed, Kövér said.
