8 pizza restaurants in Budapest that you should try

It would be in vain to deny that pizza is one of the (if not THE) most popular foods. Doesn’t matter if you prefer the classics or the extravagant ones with, for example, chocolate topping, just the thought of it will make you drool. Funzine.hu has collected the best places in Budapest worth visiting if you’re hungry (or even if you’re not).

Igen

Hours: Tue-Thu: 12:00-24:00, Fri-Sun: 12:00-02:00

Looking for Neapolitan-style pizza? Check out Igen! The key to their fine pizzas is the simplicity. There are a lot of bars in the area, so people often visit Igen, while out for a drink. The pizza is good, the atmosphere is friendly, despite the restaurant being tiny.

Pink Cadillac California

As Woody Allen once said: “Pizza is a lot like sex. When it’s good, it’s really good. When it’s bad, it’s still pretty good.” Our friends at Pink Cadillac California are doing their best so that their pizza is really good, but they focus on other meals as well, providing daily menus. Digó

Here: in the backyard of Impostor, 1054 Szabadság tér 17

You can always trust the crew of Digó working busily and with devotion in the yard of Impostor. You can grab a bite of their Neapolitan-style pizza, which is baked for just 90 seconds in a furnace heated up to 480 degrees so that each pizza is baked perfectly. Do you want something even more special? Well, here you go: the tomatoes are from the Vesuvius, while the Buffalo mozzarella from Campania.

Kemencés

Here: 1152 Fő út 39
Hours: Mon-Fri: 11:30-21:00, Sat: 11:30-16:00

Some say that the pizza at Kemencés is almost as good as at Igen. The pizza here is baked in a Neapolitan-Hungarian style furnace, built by the owner himself. The dough is thin, the crust is crunchy and the mozzarella is especially delicious. The place in itself isn’t fancy or big, it’s simple and makes you feel comfortable, knowing that you’ll get your food very quickly.
