Hungarian ice cream awarded at Rimini

Heti Világgazdaság reports that a Hungarian confectioner from Gyenesdiás won a special award at the biggest international ice cream competition. Renáta Somogyi was awarded a special mention by the technical jury at the Gelato World Tour.

36 confectioners from all over the world competed at the world event between the 8th and 10th of September at Rimini. They made it to the final round from out of 1800 contestants. Renáta Somogyi, the confectioner of Bringatanya (a family-owned confectionery from Gyenesdiás), won the second place at the European Finals at Bologna. She was representing Hungary. At this Bologna round, the owner of the Karl Cukrászda, Zsolt Karl, got a special award for his strawberry and raspberry flavoured mascarpone ice cream.

The award giving ceremony took place on Sunday evening, where all contestants got a memorial certificate, and Renáta was awarded a special mention by the technical jury. Renáta’s ice cream fantasy, Il mio cioccolato, was tested by the public as well. On the streets of Rimini, ice cream was given out for free, so that the locals could give their opinion on the icy wonders. Renáta’s ice cream was received well, the Italians (who know how a good ice cream should taste like) liked it very much.
