Orbán in Macedonia: Hungary, Europe’s interest that Balkan migrant route stays closed
It is in Hungary and Europe’s interest that the Balkan migrant route should remain closed, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Thursday. “Whereas Macedonia is a key country in this respect, we are working with those forces in Macedonia that pursue such a policy,” Orbán told a news conference before meeting former Macedonian PM Nikola Gruevszki, leader of the right-wing opposition.
Also attending the working lunch was former Slovenian PM Janez Jansa, who heads the centre-right opposition Slovenian Democratic Party.
Orbán said modern-day mass migration leads to great masses putting pressure on Europe, and one of the routes through which several tens of millions are headed is the Balkan route.
