Budapest, (MTI) – Wizz Air Ukraine, the subsidiary of the Hungarian-related company will cease its operations from April 20. Instead of that, Wizz Air Hungary will open a base in Kiev – the airline told MTI,.
As written, Wizz Air Hungary will operate 8 routes to Ukraine from April 20, the base will be opened on June 4, where an Airbus A320 will be stationing. The other Airbus A320, which is currently in Kiev, will move to Kassa.
The move was explained by that, additional capacity adjustments and restructuring of Wizz Air’s activities in Ukraine were necessary because of the continuing instability in eastern Ukraine, the devaluation and volatility of the local currency as well as the foreign exchange restrictions, MTI said.
The Ukrainian subsidiary operated 18 routes, of which 8 (Budapest, London, Cologne, Dortmund, Hamburg, Katowice, Larnaka and Munich) will continue to operate, the rest will be terminated. The passengers of the canceled flights will get the full ticket price back.
