This is how Hungarians spend Christmas

Otthonterkep.hu recently conducted a survey to find out about the Christmastime habits of Hungarians. Among others, it turned out that most people prefer big Christmas trees which they set up in the living room, while most of the Hungarian families spend Christmas Eve with only their closest relatives.

Christmas is the most intimate holiday, which plays an important role in the life of Hungarian families. The survey’s aim was to find out about the festive habits of Hungarian families by asking “How do you celebrate the holidays?”.

41% of the 700 respondents think that the colour of Christmas is definitely red, 21% think that it is gold, while 14% said that green represents the holidays the best.

59% of people think that a real Christmas tree is taller than 1.5 metres, and the great majority of respondents mount their trees in the living room.

Besides the living room, people also like to place trees in American style kitchen-living rooms (12%), dining rooms (4%), halls (2%), bedrooms (2%) and even in the kitchen (1%).
