Viktor Orbán meets former Montenegrin president
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met former Montenegrin PM and president Milo Djukanovic, who heads the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro, for talks in Budapest on Thursday, Orbán’s press chief told MTI.
At the meeting attended by Antal Rogán, the cabinet office chief, and Gergely Gulyás, the Fidesz party’s group leader, it was agreed that Montenegro’s recent admission to NATO would advance its European Union integration efforts.
Orbán assured Djukanovic of Hungary’s continued and full support for its EU-related endeavours.
The prime minister noted that he had urged his counterparts at several Brussels summits to persuade the European Council to set up a coordinated strategy to integrate Western Balkan states in order to forestall the possibility of world powers increasing their traction in the region.
Among EU member states, Hungary is the second largest investor in Montenegro, Orbán noted at the meeting, adding that both sides should endeavour to further develop economic relations.
