Hungary guest of honour at Portuguese classical music festival
Hungary will be the guest of honour at the international cultural and classical music festival Terras sem Sombra to start on 17 February in Portugal, the Hungarian ambassador in Lisbon said on Friday.
Hungarian musicians, students and young teachers from the Music Academy in Budapest, will perform at five concerts during the six-month festival to be held in the Alentejo region of south-central and southern Portugal, Klára Breuer told a press conference.
The Hungarian government has granted 6.2 million forints (EUR 20,000) support for the performances, she added.
The concerts will feature works by, among others, Béla Bartók, Zoltán Kodály, Ferenc Liszt, György Kurtág and Péter Eötvös, to be performed at the old churches of Alentejo, artistic director of the festival Juan Vela Del Campo said.
