The Book Festival’s attendance hits record
According to index.hu, this year’s Budapest International Book Festival has become the most visited Hungarian Book Festival at all time, said Zentai Péter László, the Hungarian Publishers and Book Distributors’ (MKKE) manager to the MTI.
Zentai couldn’t say a concrete number but on Sunday afternoon he confirmed that there were a few thousands more people at the Festival as the previous years. The Festival hit its 61 thousand visitors which was the record until this year.
The manager said, the reason for this might be that the people who work in Hungarian book profession have learned by now how could they take advantage from the program’s opportunities. ‘Success lies in how they can reach out to the amazing Hungarian book lovers. In this year this went better than expected’ – he added.
Zentai Péter László also mentioned, the Festival reflected that the Millenáris Park is less and less satisfactory to hold a program because its condition is declining. ‘I think that the Millenáris is the best suitable location for organizing the Book Festival in Budapest. From location changing, big book sales usually does not benefit well and we want to avoid it. For us, the best solution would be if the Milllenáris could renew’ – he said.
