Fourth Hungarian Film Festival opens
A total of 150 titles including documentaries, TV productions and animated films will be shown at the Fourth Hungarian Film Week opening on Wednesday.
Also, 131 titles will compete for prizes in five categories, the organisers said.
The festival will open with the screening of a digitally remastered copy of Confidence, a 1979 drama by Oscar-winning director István Szabó about the Hungarian resistance during the second world war and the hiding of a married couple. The Kossuth prize-winner who won the Academy Award for Mephisto in 1981 will be honoured in the evening.
The festival’s programme also includes screening on Feb. 11 Ildikó Enyedi’s slaughter-house romance On Body and Soul, which has been shortlisted for this year’s Oscar for best foreign-language film.
The Hungarian Film Academy in partnership with Hungary’s media authority (NMHH) and the Hungarian National Film Fund has organised the festival which runs until Sunday.
