POLL – Support for parties down, people turning away from politics
Budapest, June 10 (MTI) – Party support fell in the past two months as more and more Hungarians turned away from politics, Ipsos said on Wednesday.
The proportion of those who said they could not pick any party increased from 39 percent in April to 44 percent in early June, the pollster said.
Among all voters ruling Fidesz lost 1 percent compared to 21 percent support in April and the radical nationalist Jobbik lost 2 percent from April’s 17 percent, according to the poll carried out in early June.
The Socialists also lost 2 percent support from April when 11 percent of all voters backed them.
The green opposition LMP and the Democratic Coalition (DK) each had 4 percent. LMP lost 1 percent support from April’s 5 percent while support for DK grew by 1 percent.
Support for Egyutt remained at 1 percent and other political parties were all below this level.
Among decided voters, support for Fidesz stood at 38 percent in early June, followed by Jobbik with 28 percent, the Socialists with 15 percent, DK with 9 percent, LMP with 5 percent and Egyutt with 1 percent.
The poll was based on a representative sample of 1,000 voting-age adults between June 1 and 8.
