Great Race VI on 1st of May – spectacular aerial parade and car racing show in the downtown of Budapest
This is the 6th time that the outstanding Hungarian sporting event, the so-called Great Race, dedicated to technical sports, is going to be organised in the heart of Budapest, reports MTI. In the framework of the event, both Hungarian and internationally-acknowledged legends of motorsport racing are going to participate to familiarise the massive crowd of spectators lining along the banks of the Danube with motor and car racing. In this article, you can get a little glimpse of the Great Race’s morning and afternoon programs.
By now, the annual sporting event of the Great Race, organised in Budapest, has become a tradition, and it is a great honour for the best representatives of this sport to participate in it. For those who have an insatiable appetite for watching racing shows on the spot, this sporting event is unmissable offering the opportunity to see race cars, motorbikes, trucks and their well-known drivers within arm’s reach.
Furthermore, similarly to previous years, Formula One drivers are also going to participate in it and thus raise the standard of the event, reports Hungaroring.hu.
In fact, the program already starts on Monday, since on the last day of April, those interested can have the chance to get around the paddock set up in Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street, in front of the Basilica, where from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., racing cars are going to be exhibited. Then, on Tuesday, from 10 a.m., diverse programmes are going to await those who look for some spine-chilling adventures.
In the morning, motorsport racing shows are going to take place on the Erzsébet Square, Károly Boulevard, Astoria and Ferenciek Square circuit. Such outstanding racing drivers are going to give a public performance to the Hungarian audience as the aspiring Dutch talent, Max Verstappen, who is the member of the Red Bull Racing team. What is noteworthy about him is that he made his 1st outstanding sporting achievement in Budapest at the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2015, as reports Nemzetisport.hu.
As Zsolt Gyulay, President and Managing Director of Hungaroring Sport Zrt, claimed:
“Max Verstappen has not participated yet in the dowtown parade, but he has already gained information about this unique event from other drivers. Therefore, we hope that he will very much enjoy it. What also shows the general need for and the popularity of such racing events is the fact that Chase Carey, Formula One’s Chief Executive, and some of the directors of the Liberty Media all accepted our invitation to the event”.
Besides Verstappen, René Rast and Timo Glock are also going to round the track together with the only F1 racing driver of Hungary, Zsolt Baumgartner, who is going to cover the distance with a Formula Renault car. Finally, in the afternoon, spectacular aerial show over the Danube is going to be organised.
