Hungarian Museum Ludwig on worldwide top 100 list
The Ludwig Museum of contemporary art is now featured on a list of the 100 most significant modern and contemporary arts institutions in an online database, as reported by ludwigmuseum.blog.hu.
The gallery, which is located in Budapest, is the first Eastern European museum of contemporary art to be listed by an international database, namely that of Artfacts.net. Among its criteria are professional activity, the gallery’s impact in the context of visitors and professionals, and the continuity of its presentations. Ludwig Museum is featured most probably because of its easy-to-follow and professionally innovative activity showcased throughout the last three years.
Ludwig is both the only Hungarian institute and the only representative of the Eastern European region.
The Hungarian gallery on the bank of the Danube, whose host institute Palace of Arts is renowned for its magnificent architecture, is thus sharing a place with world-famous venues such as the Albertina in Vienna, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Tate Modern in London, or the Museum of Modern Art in New York. As part of a larger network of Ludwig Institutions, its counterparts in Vienna (MUMOK) and Cologne are also present on the list.
