The Night of the Choirs: singing takes over Budapest’s eighth district
Change language:
A truly special event will be held for the sixth time in the eighth district of Budapest, also known as Józsefváros (Josephtown), where 41 Hungarian and foreign amateur choirs will fill the streets and courtyards on 9 June, travelo.hu reports.
The melodies will first start resounding at around 4 in the afternoon between Kálvin square and Pollack Mihály square, where little snippets of all kinds of genres from classical to popular and folk music will fill the air in the forms of impromptu mini-concerts.

What makes this night unique is that the choir members and those who decide to follow them will get to see secret nooks of buildings that are usually not open to the public – like the garden of the Musical Collection of Szabó Ervin Library or the courtyard of the Faculty of Humanities of Károli Gáspár University. But tunes will fill the gigantic courtyard of the National Museum and the beautiful ÉpÃtész udvar (Yard of the Architect Association), too.
