Government to support student employment with EUR 9.4m this summer
The finance ministry will support municipalities and municipally-owned companies employing students aged 16-25 years this summer with 3 billion forints (EUR 9.4m), continuing a programme started earlier, Finance Minister Mihály Varga told MTI on Monday.
In a new element, the programme now also offers funding to agricultural and catering businesses employing students, in order to meet the strong workforce demand, the minister added.
The programme is expected to support the employment of about 25,000-30,00 students this summer, after more than 27,000 last year.
For municipalities, the funding fully covers student wages. In the case of farm and catering businesses, 75 percent of student wages and the related social contribution tax is refunded to the employer.
