Removal of WW2 bomb in River Danube postponed

Authorities decided on Tuesday afternoon to postpone the removal of a WW2 bomb found in the River Danube, an armed forces’ official said.

Explosives experts will first identify the device on Wednesday morning and decide about the method of removal afterwards, Zita Markovics told MTI.

The bomb, believed to be a 100kg Soviet-made device, was discovered buried in the river bed late on Monday.

The public will be informed about traffic restrictions, and evacuations if need be, well in advance, Markovics said.
