Media authority: Child porn content on Hungarian servers ‘low’
Internet servers operated in Hungary are “not attractive” for paedophiles, Hungary’s media authority NMHH told MTI on Monday, quoting a recent report by the INHOPE, an international association fighting child abuse.
According to the report, some 0.14 percent of all Europe’s child pornography is stored on Hungarian servers, while content providers typically act upon warnings from Internet Hotline, NMHH’s organisation in Hungary and a member of INHOPE.
The report said that more than half of European paedophile content (51 percent) was stored on Dutch servers, 18 percent in France, and 10 percent in Sweden.
Across INHOPE’s members around the world the US has the largest share (43 percent), while the Netherlands is second with 19 percent followed by Russia with 7 percent.
Hungary’s Internet Hotline received 56 warnings of paedophile content from users in 2017, NMHH said, adding that criminal proceedings were initiated in 20 cases.
