The beautiful Hungarian capital was awarded yet another title, this time for being an excellent cruise destination. Cruisecritic.com, the magazine dedicated to all things ships and cruises, announced the winners of its award called Cruisers’ Choice Destination. The winners were selected based on tourists’ feedback, that is how Budapest managed to win the impressive second place in the category of ‘European River Cruise Destinations’ – reports funzine.hu.
Hungarians have long held the belief that Budapest is among the most beautiful cities in the world, and, in recent years, recognition from abroad proved the belief to be true.
The Budapest Festival and Tourism Centre has been working on ensuring that people all over the world get to know the unique beauty and vibrant cultural life of the Hungarian capital.
As the official institute responsible for tourism and festival-organising in Budapest, their goal is to encourage people to visit the Hungarian city. The company has a number of partners as well, including ones closely connected to cruising. Their work has been successful, as a significant increase can be observed in the number of tourists visiting Budapest.
This year, titles were awarded in a total of 18 categories that correspond to the different regions in the world. Tourists’ opinion of Budapest is the following:
it is an excellent cruise destination as it is extremely beautiful, the city tours become lasting experiences and are also extremely informative, not to mention how wonderful and truly unforgettable the city is when it is lit up for the night.
This year, the first prize went to Arles in the South of France, while the third prize, following Budapest, was awarded to the German Wurzburg.
