Budapest, August 19 (MTI) – Moving the headquarters of the European Union to the east would be a “logical idea”, Hungarian ex-premier Peter Boross told national daily Magyar Hirlap on Wednesday.
“The EU’s headquarters should no longer be located in Brussels but in the geographical centre of the organisation, somewhere in Germany, especially in its eastern part,” Boross said in an interview, adding that “the EU’s mentality is unambiguously influenced by the aura of western left liberalism.”
Boross, who headed a conservative government in 1993-1994, said that Europe must have been able to stem the current tide of refugees if it were merely composed of nation-states.
“Instead of thinking in terms of refugee quotas, the European Union should set up a military force of its own, then, in cooperation with the Americans, restore peace in the Middle East. Refugees should then be returned to their home countries, whose economies should be put back on their feet,” he said.
The ex-premier said the Hungarian-Serbian border fence would be unsuitable to stem the tide as refugees could enter Hungary from Romania or Croatia, which are not members of the Schengen zone.
“The fence, however, demonstrates the government’s commitment to halting the wave of refugees,” he said.

Peter Boross makes a lot of sense when he says ““Instead of thinking in terms of refugee quotas, the European Union should set up a military force of its own, then, in cooperation with the Americans, restore peace in the Middle East. Refugees should then be returned to their home countries, whose economies should be put back on their feet,”.
After all, the pundits keep saying we should mind our own business and stay out of the middle east, well we will be. Getting involved militarily in the first place showed people from there that there are better places in the world. Countries directly involved should be back there to repair the damage and allow the people to return to the place they adored in the past, rather then try to make them along with the europeans some silly cocktail united States. Let Nations live in peace and help them do so!
