Dear migrants, migrant-protectors and wannabe migrant-protectors of Facebook, maybe you haven’t heard from anyone and I will be the first who tells you the bad news: no one has the right to a better life, jobbegyenes.blog.hu said.
I feel for the refugees. I don’t write it ironically. I heartily feel sorry for every man, woman and child who drag themselves away from the hell of war for several thousand kilometers, leaving behind their houses and home in the hope of a brighter future. Those who walk, get on a train, sit into a boat, and if the family sinks together with the raft, they console themselves: Allah wanted so!
I think it issues a certificate about every country that thinks itself culturally superior that how it treats those who knocking on its door asking for help. But what to do with those who don’t knock but banging loudly and shout they have the right to go anywhere they want? With those who creep under the gardens instead of the door, burn their papers and toss the food to the rails?
Fotelkalandor blog summed up in 12 points what kind of military-foreign policy grounds regardless of Europe strengthened the Syrian migration in recent months. A niche writing which unfortunately does not explain that why the Afghans who are at war since 2001, the Bangladeshis where peace reigns or the Pakistanis who classified themselves among the 20 happiest countries in the world 3 years ago, decided just now that they aim the West undertaking a deadly tour, while they don’t speak its language, don’t know its culture, and what they know of it, they thank but don’t ask it.
For whoever wants to escape to Germany, is not a refugee anymore, even if he initially started from a war zone. From this point, he is an economic migrant who just want to live better. This is a fully understandable human desire, but there are a few hundred million people in Western Europe who also attempt to do so, and fewer and fewer of them feel themselves home in their own country.
From this point the question is not whether the Afghan, Pakistani and Syrian immigrants would like to live in Germany, but that whether the German citizens would like to accept them.
You have to make the immigrants understand two things. One: you can’t destroy your documents, you can’t refer your rights so that you start with an infringement by entering our country and then you ask for fairness. Second: if you are really a refugee, you have to announce it in the first peaceful country. If I count well, this is the fifth one you passed through, so here is the door backwards.
Many people like to refer to the 1956 emigrant Hungarians who were hosted by Austria. A parallel worse than this cannot be found. The ’56 Hungarians acted as refugees, no as illegal border crossers. They sought contact with the authorities, tried to gain refugee status, stayed under dire circumstances in refugee camps for months until they could identify themselves and get a job or move on. They did not rebel, did not throw the Parisian sandwich in the trash and did not demand their rights. They were grateful for the host nation which granted them protection in the most difficult times. We would expect something similar from our “refugees” as well.
Our rights protectors like to refer to the fact that everyone “has the right to a better life”. Dear migrants, migrant-protectors and wannabe migrant-protectors of Facebook, maybe you haven’t heard from anyone and I will be the first who tells you the bad news: there is no such right. No one has the right to a better life. The person has the right to life, liberty, equal treatment, health, security. But only if he complies with the laws of the country where he arrives in, in cooperation with the authorities.
Anyone who wants to be the citizen of a richer country and live on the local payments/benefits, there is an option, but the road to this doesn’t lead through sticking the chassis of smuggling trucks, but through waiting for the evaluation of asylum application in the refugee camps. Anyone who is unable or unwilling to understand it, failed the How can I become a Union citizen final examination.
Otherwise, you can help these people apart from this, there are aid agencies and volunteer groups. But let every country let know, before allowing 2-3 thousand people in its area in a day, who they are, where are they from and what is their purpose. Yeah, is that a very long bureaucratic process sometimes with humiliating procedures and arrogant officials? The Hungarians beyond the borders, who were waited for the citizenship for 65 years, could tell about it.
The gate of Balkan is certainly not the new Canaan, but at least you don’t have to fear the Islamic State here. If only you did not bring it with you.

Very good article . Thank you.
I agree with every word. If only the European politicians had some backbone over this matter. These migrants are rude and arrogant demanding their ‘right’. By the way has the volume of young single men in their ranks gone down this last few days. Makes you wonder if we are allready flooded with ISIS undercover animals.
A great article. I support everything you said. I have not understood why what appears to be a lot of young men aren’t fighting to get their country back. These countries could have been so prosperous with tourist who want to visit to see where we all began. The one thing the USA got correct was to separate religion from government.
Hello,
Here Lengyelorszag:) Great article. I think most of polish people support You in this days and expecting next days the same problems.
I searched for a while to find a Hungarian Site where I can say; THANK YOU Hungary and Orban for standing up to EU Reichskommisar Merkel.
It’s disgusting when one European state puts millions of Europeans out of work, ruins the pensions of hardworking people, bails out the mismanaged banks while putting the iron bands of Austerity on Europeans’ necks —
— Then insists on handing out all kinds of benefits to non-Europeans who were already safe and protected. They were doling out hundreds of euros for tickets, they obviously aren’t destitute.
Loved this article. Bravo!

what is wrong with Merkel ? what happened in sweden , britain and norway, she have not read about british teenage girls. and rapes in sweden and norway.
Thanks a lot for this article. I also stumbled upon it searching for a Hungarian news site, because I wanted to express my support and thankfulness for what Hungary as a state do. You for sure do not have so many readers in Hungary as main news portals in Hungarian have, but well, I do not know a word in Hungarian, therefore I am here. Despite perhaps a limited distribution still very good place, and great article! I fully support author’s opinions.
Majority of people in Poland fully supports Hungarian approach.
We do not have anything against peaceful families who can live and work here and contribute to our state’s wealth, culture, society. But I cannot believe these herds of 20-30 years old aggressive men, shouting about their rights to live here, can contribute to anything else than chaos and anxiety.
If these young fleeing men want to live in better condition they shall organize and fight for their rights in THEIR country. If they cannot fight they shall go to their peaceful neighbors.
Why they do not seek asylum in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Yemen, wealthy countries of Middle East, with the same religion and culture?
Why for example Palestinians do not flee? There is war in their country (not even recognized legal by many other countries) but they are patriots, and stick to their poor land.
West is not without guilt: they eliminated local dictators. It was perhaps bad to live in country of Saddam or Kaddafi dictatorship. But now it is worse beyond comparison. So al-Asad may be better ophthalmologist than president but at least he fights against ISIS. But where are his soldiers? Maybe already in Hungary, Austria, Bavaria?
Hungarians keep going your way!
Greetings from Poland.
“No one has the right to a better life”
That doesn’t mean it is OK to deny that to someone.
“Allah wanted so!”
Not everything is offered up to Allah. This was an ignorant comment.
“But what to do with those who don’t knock but banging loudly and shout they have the right to go anywhere they want?”
They do have the right to go to Germany, according to the German government. The Hungarian government has no humanitarian grounds, self-interested or otherwise, in stopping their transit.
“A niche writing which unfortunately does not explain that why the Afghans who are at war since 2001, the Bangladeshis where peace reigns or the Pakistanis who classified themselves among the 20 happiest countries in the world 3 years ago, decided just now that they aim the West undertaking a deadly tour,”
There is extreme political persecution in Bangladesh and religious persecution in parts of Pakistan. The ignorance in that comment is unbelievable.
“While they don’t speak its language, don’t know its culture, and what they know of it, they thank but don’t ask it.”
The last point here is bad English, but I get the point. The people who travel for culture are tourists. These people aren’t tourists.
“For whoever wants to escape to Germany, is not a refugee anymore, even if he initially started from a war zone.”
Not according to the German government or international law.
“From this point, he is an economic migrant who just want to live better.”
Wrong.
“This is a fully understandable human desire, but there are a few hundred million people in Western Europe who also attempt to do so, and fewer and fewer of them feel themselves home in their own country.”
Less than 1% of Europe’s population are asylum seekers.
“From this point the question is not whether the Afghan, Pakistani and Syrian immigrants would like to live in Germany, but that whether the German citizens would like to accept them.”
Which they have demonstrated they would…
“You have to make the immigrants understand two things. One: you can’t destroy your documents, you can’t refer your rights so that you start with an infringement by entering our country and then you ask for fairness.”
There is no other channel available, part of the current discussions in the EU.
“Second: if you are really a refugee, you have to announce it in the first peaceful country. If I count well, this is the fifth one you passed through, so here is the door backwards.”
Wrong. This is not the case according to international law. The first peaceful country has to provide asylum, but refugees can apply anywhere. In any case, the surrounding countries are oversubscribed and, regardless of the law, it is morally wrong to expect to take no responsibility when a small country like Lebanon has taken 1.5 million migrants.
“Many people like to refer to the 1956 emigrant Hungarians who were hosted by Austria.”
If only we could take the world back to 1956, eh?
“Dear migrants, migrant-protectors and wannabe migrant-protectors of Facebook, maybe you haven’t heard from anyone and I will be the first who tells you the bad news: there is no such right. No one has the right to a better life. The person has the right to life, liberty, equal treatment, health, security. But only if he complies with the laws of the country where he arrives in, in cooperation with the authorities.”
Again, being a decent person is not the same as applying the letter of the law. What the rules are should be secondary to what is right.
“Anyone who wants to be the citizen of a richer country and live on the local payments/benefits,…”
Migrants are statistically more likely to work and be job-creators than locals (i.e. not on benefits). That is a global trend.
“…there is an option, but the road to this doesn’t lead through sticking the chassis of smuggling trucks, but through waiting for the evaluation of asylum application in the refugee camps.”
There is no functional system of processing in refugee camps, which are a second hell for refugees bringing death, disease and, sometimes, further persecution.
“The gate of Balkan is certainly not the new Canaan, but at least you don’t have to fear the Islamic State here. If only you did not bring it with you.”
There is no evidence of any refugee being linked to ISIS. Another ignorant, scared comment.
Well writen !!!
Thanks for being able to write this and express my thoughts and I am sure thousand more still able to think people.
First of all the headline “you do not have the right to a better life” is ridiculous as I’m quite sure the first priority of these people is to have a life in the first place. Syria, Eritrea and Afghanistan are home to some of the most dangerous territory in the world with bombs, bullets and shells raining down most days non-stop.
Secondly, dear hypocritical Hungarian journalist and citizen illustrating these people as Economic migrants. Have you ever visited Britian, Ireland or France where thousands upon thousands of Hungarians are working in order to obtain “better life”. Should we the citizens of Western Europe close up our borders and send everyone from Eastern Europe home cause they don’t deserve a better life?
As for the migrants that are “rebelling” and “throwing their Parisian sandwiches in the trash”(doubtful since these people are usually starving) you wouldn’t be the least bit disgruntled after travelling miles upon miles on foot, crossing dangerous waters with a high risk of drowning and finally having to jump a barbed wire fence? I’m pretty sure by the time you reached keleti trainstation you wouldn’t be the most compliant individual.
Just an observation, maybe “don’t throw stones in glass houses” when a massive chunk of Hungary’s working population has gone abroad to find a better life and more prosperity.
As a syrian guy i would like to express my views.
1- Syrians reaching the borders are refugees NOT immigrants.
2- They are refugees BECAUSE they lost their homes, jobs, family members etc….
3- Many of Syrian cities are destroyed to ruins such as the ancient cities of Aleppo,Homes etc leaving millions of people without shelters.
4- At least 250,000 people killed in Syria since 2011 and about 1 million people injured.
4- What happened in SYRIA represents the failure of the world order created at 1945 which allowed a war criminal named BASHAR ASSAD to use unprecedented power against his people who were demonstration peacefully for FREEDOM.
5- IF the free world continues to allow Bashar Assad and his allies (Russia,Iran, hezbolla) then expect the crisis to continue and the number of refugees to reach Europe will be in MILLIONS not thousands.
6- Free Syrians are fighting on two fronts:Assad regime and ISIS.
7-By the way, those who accuse Syrians to be ISIS,just to let you know that most of ISIS members are NOT Syrians. If you do such stereotyping, this means that all Hungarians are cowards like PETRA LASZLO and this is not true.
8- As a Syrian Muslim, i am proud that my country was a safe heaven to a lot of CHRISTIANS like Armenians who fled to Syria in 1915.Our grandfathers helped them with shelter and food though Syria was suffering of Famine at that time.
9-A lot of Syrians refugees who you are facing now in your country used to have beautiful houses and good jobs may better than yours( very few Syrians used to seek refuge in Europe before 2011).
Thanks
dear hungarians.
i am a hungarian from romania, you know, the land you claim that it was yours and you are still proud of it? and, you hate me, because i am hungarian from romania.
you are having hate and xenofobia in your blood, i do not know why, because the real hungarian is full of empathy and love for the others, maybe is because you have inherited the adn mixture during history.
i am having bad dreams after seeing how you throw bread (?) in the cages where you have placed the refugies, i have had the feeling that i am contemporany with the nazies camps even if i have not leaved any war yet. are you talking about the trash what those poor people are leaving behind after treveling by foot hundereds of km and your refugee camp looks like the cages from a zoo? are you feeding those people like animals? and you are the ones who are talking about human right ?!
You do not have the right to a better life!?!?!?!?
I’m wondering you are you all to say this, to even think about it.
My name is Marco, in 2009 I left my country (Italy) looking for a better life and I went to work to Budapest. This country offered to me (and to many other countrymen better conditions than my home country. After 3 years I wanted even a better life so I found a job in Switzerland, where I’m still living.
It has been always difficult to change country without knowing anyone, it’s true I’ve been always a legal migrant, but showing your ID when you start a new life doesn’t guarantee you better conditions. You need to start from zero all the time.
For these poor people is even worse. And I say poor because of what they are living, what they are leaving and for what is coming.
If in my country there’s a war I would also pay to escape as fast as I can from this, in a legal or illegal way, it doesn’t matter.
Life first.
Most of all the comments I read above (except for John, Mate Ir and Fatih) show only anger.
I would like to see how you react if you were in the same conditions (I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy).
My hope is that we all act as human being, regardless any political position or stupid religion (which is proved brings only problems).
I can only wish you Virtus et Fortuna.
My name is Fernando Frugis I’m brazilian, financial analyst, I’ve travelled to up to 25 countries around the World. I lived in Hungary for a year and I can assure that hungarians are among the most lovely and helpful people I ever knew.
It’s an amazing country and the people do whatever they can to help, they just demand the respect and education that IS NECESSARY EVERYWHERE.
The future generations when learning about the History of Europe will be immensely grateful for the peripherial countries including Hungary for standing up against the cultural invasion. German government might demonstrate her willingness to accomodate hundres of thousand of people but the vast majority of German people are against it to say the least. Let this be a message to some of the commenters praising Germany’s action. One individual has probably never stumbled upon the term “European citizen” when labelling Eastern Europeans as economic immigrants. Glückwunsch! Vielen Dank, Ungarn!
Typical story from the Jobbik guys pretending to be fair and balanced. There is not one point in this “wonderful” text that cannot be proved as wrong.
You want to inform yourself?! Read this http://unhcr.org/556725e69.html
Anyway: some people commented on this text and already pointed out all the flaws in it. The other ones started celebrating the “writer” for his bravery and I am pretty sure that those people won’t change their minds because they never would try to actually cultivate a ballanced view which is not dominated by fear and prejudice.
We have and are going to have problems in the EU. But most of them will remain problems as long as Hungary and the other hungarian “Allies” won’t start to cooperate in order to find a solution.
And to answer just one question that has been put up for “discussion” in this text. Why don’t all the Syrians stay in Hungary and or the first state they actually get refuge?! Because most the first ones (Greece/Italy) are already overrun and simply don’t give a shit about human dignity, etc. And the next (Hungary) even manages to blatantly be racist and unwelcoming to the max. So if hungarian “government” actually does everything it can to be as unwelcoming as humanly possible then it’s no wonder that those people would like to get out of there. And that Sandwich example. LMAO…Hey look at us guys! We tried to give them a sandwich after we treated them like shit and let them rot for days in our station and after pretending that they could pass on but we just wanted to get them to another camp where we could treat them as shitty as possible without getting annoyed by them in our capital and then! they didn’t want to accept our sandwiches! The outrage! Send them back! They don’t deserve our help!
All this law and order, keep to our laws and you will be treated accordingliy bullshit is just hilarious. I am still amazed. And the culture point. Sure. Because the “european” culture is so extremely unique. We have to protect the english/hungarian/romanian/slovak/ etc blabla culture but there is actually not one, not a single person in Europe who would actually be able to tell me what the specifics of those “cultures” are. I could ask 5000 Hungarians what hungarian culture is and I would get at least 1000 different answers. Same goes for the rest of our european “fellow” countries. So scrap that.
In a few years we are going to see more clearly. We will have the answers to our questions and guess what. The world will keep on turning. It is not going to wait for you who fear change and who think that there is no sollution but closing the borders and protect our “culture”. The world will never stop turning it is never going to wait for you. Either you stay behind or you start getting used to the change which is coming whether you are ready for it or not. Hungary has already lost a quarter century through jobbik and fidesz and it is going to lose even more while being afraid. You people have to finally realize that you are the losing ones right now.
Dear Ali,
Why are personalizing about what i said.I would like to assure you that i am not a REFUGEE as my house and home city is still safe in Syria.
My main point that refugee crisis is just a symptom to a disease which is russo-iranian occupation of syria and prepare yourselves to see more desperate refugees in Europe if Bashar assad is not kicked out.
Regarding article title; Steve jobs who changed our lives is a son of a Syrian Migrant prof.Jandali who moved from Syria to USA seeking ” a better life”.
@Mira:
I am hungarian, and I dont hate you… so you are wrong.
the camps where clean before them. It means basically: they are dirty, not the people who work hard to keep them outside. you know… there are other rules and contracts between these lands in Schengen. One is that the outer countries must defend the borders at any cost. It is absolutely not allowed to an outer country to let tens of tousands of people coming through the border, untregistred, without any papers, id… whatsoever. Basically ghosts are approaching München if we dont close the border. You forget that: According to the law it is totally illegal what these people do. And they got food, and they got clothes and sympathy. So no… you got it wrong.

The tenor of this article to me seems to be that citizens from wealthy countries have done something for their wealth and therefore deserve to be wealthy, while others are not – and should not?! – be privileged enough to seek wealth if they weren´t fortunate enough to be born in a wealthy country.
Personally speaking, I in no way have contributed to the wealth in my home country, where I was able to get everything I need and more for my daily life.
It´s a very dangerous thought that people seeking asylum may only do this in a “grateful” and submissive way even if their right to do so is denied. It IS every human´s right.
Lastly, the headline “SAD BUT TRUE: YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO A BETTER LIFE” can only come from someone who is from a wealthy and safe country and who is afraid of losing his/her wealth if they have to share it.
Magyars themselves came from Asia to settle Carpath basin over a thousand years ago, they are not a European people, so look who’s talking.
‘No one has the right to a better life. The person has the right to life, liberty, equal treatment, health, security. But only if he complies with the laws of the country where he arrives in, in cooperation with the authorities.’ So if someone doesn’t comply with the laws, he has no right to life? And who is going to be the judge?
Interesting point – however, in regards to the end part of the article, saying that immigrants should only be allowed in if they abide by the law – where is your evidence that these refugees in particular will not abide by the law, and be unruly?
And no, please don’t link me to misleading images with captions on Facebook, thanks 🙂
I feel sorry for the people that have to run away from a war zone, but there are thousands of them and our countries are not prepared to host so many people at one time. Also many of the immigrants are very aggressive and want to pick up the place where they want to live just because has higher benefits. And this is a really stupid behaviour because Merkel said that they need refugees in Germany but then she said that Germany will not able to take them all and also other European countries have to host many of them, so there is no way to know, for a refugee, which will be the country that will acccomodate him. There is not need to panic, refugees have food, water and all the medical attention they need, they should stop doing all that drama, there are not bombs over their head now. Hungary and other east european countries are doing well pretending the law to be respected. I am glad my boyfriend is Polish, as a woman, I am proud of him, especially after seeing so many young men ready to fight the hungarian police but not so ready to fight for their own countries. In Poland people are very nice and help each other but they want to be respected and they are ready to fight for this.
So pleased to read the Hungarian article and most of the comments. I am dismayed at seeing hordes of aggressive young men pushing down national barriers and demanding their ‘rights’. The right course of action is for them to stay and fight for their country instead of fleeing and leaving their women and children behind.
Saudis Arabia and other Arab countries should take in the refugees where they will be in a similar culture.
