Fina Swimming World Cup: Hosszu and Gyurta in Singapore
The upcoming Fina Swimming World Cup leg (short course) at the Singapore Sports School will boast eight world champions among the record number of international entries this year.
World and Olympic breaststroke champion Daniel Gyurta of Hungary (above) will join his compatriot Katinka Hosszu, Yuliya Efimova (Russia), Cate Campbell and Christian Sprenger (both Australia) at the Singapore Sports School on Nov 5 and 6.
This is in addition to Olympic and world champion South African Chad le Clos, Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom and Holland’s Ranomi Kromowidjojo, who had confirmed their participation in Singapore earlier.
The competition will also see the return of China’s Tang Yi, who won six gold medals here in 2010 at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games. She went on to win a bronze in the 100m freestyle at the London Olympics last year.
In total, the two-day competition will see 25 international swimmers who won medals at either the World Championships in Barcelona earlier this year, or at the London Olympics in 2012, or both.
