Budapest to host 2nd Africa Forum in November
Budapest, September 22 (MTI) – Budapest will host the second Africa Forum on Nov. 2-3, with education high on the event’s agenda.
The event is aimed at contributing towards efforts to further develop Hungary’s ties with countries in Africa under the government’s Southern Opening strategy, said a deputy state secretary at the foreign ministry on Tuesday.
Szilveszter Bus said that strengthening Hungary’s economic position in Africa and South America was a top priority, adding that Hungary would open three new embassies on the former continent in the next six months, as well as reinforce its consular services and trading network.
Bus also noted that thousands of African youth have graduated from Hungarian universities, and Hungary wants to “build on that valuable network”.
France Mutombo, head of the For Africa Foundation, said that what Africa needs most is not financial aid but training and skills as crucial components for long-term development.
