Parliament passes bill on more courts to try migrant cases
Budapest, September 29 (MTI) – Lawmakers on Tuesday passed a bill that allows two additional regional courts to try cases in connection with illegal border entry.
Under the bill, district courts in Pecs and Zalaegerszeg will have the power to try these cases in addition to the district court in Szeged. These cities are located close to Hungary’s borders with Serbia and Croatia.
The bill was initiated by ruling Fidesz party lawmaker Bence Tuzson, who said his proposal aimed to reduce the burden on the Szeged court.
It was approved with 136 votes in favour, 26 against and two abstentions at an extraordinary parliamentary session called by Fidesz.
