According to mno.hu, passengers get used to and have liked the 300 public transport ticket machines in Budapest, about half of the ticket revenue comes from the machines – equipment manufacturer Scheidt & Bachmann told MTI.
The German company said the machines carry out 20% more transactions compared to the preliminary plans. Today, about half of total ticket revenues are “produced” by these equipments, there was a day when the machines achieved nearly a quarter of billion forints revenue.
Marton Hraboczki, Managing Director of Scheidt & Bachmann Hungary said one of the reasons of the success is the bank card payment option: in terms of revenues, about 45% of the turnover is from card payments; their average value is much higher than cash payments, since only every fourth transaction is card payment.
Quickly-adapting Hungarians
Based on the experience of the Managing Director, the Hungarians reached the sales ratio typical of the industry faster than the average (which is 24 months). Installation of the ticket machines began on March 28, 2014. Since then, 300 have been put into operation and soon there will be new ones, mno.hu wrote.
The communication highlighted that the electronic ticket building process of Budapest achieved another milestone, since the design phase – according to the plans – had been completed.
